When you raise the focal length setting the camera appears to move closer. You will have to pull it back slightly to get the shot you want.

This is a render done at Z 50 with the focal length still set at 65 and you can see that her face shows some distortion compared to the image below.
This render is done with the Z set at 70 and the focal length changed to 100. Notice that there is less distortion in this render. For a face only portrait this setting is fine.

For this render I moved the cameras Z translation out to 140 and the focal length is 95. Those are good settings for a render where you want to show more than just your characters face.

Now you have a general idea of the sort of camera setting your going to need for your image. Obviously the images I have here are too large to use without shrinking them and losing some of the detail so next we will look at how to render "to size".
